Domestic Violence Drive

I'm so excited. I received our first donations of products from my friends Vicky and Gerry today. Thank you guys so much. Some ladies will be sooo encouraged!

Not too long ago in my past, I was asking for the physical abuse to stop. Yesterday, I watched the 20/20/Diane Sawyer interview of the singer Rihanna with my 15 year -almost 16- year old daughter Kayla. This interview really resonated with me since I have experienced abuse, both physically and verbally. One night, my significant other at the time had a car fight - similar to the one Rianna shares. A plug of my hair was pulled out - that was the fierceness of the fight. Kayla asked me what I thought about the interview and I was unable to respond at the time.In my last post, I said I would share more about our, â??We Careâ?? drive and how you can get involved and make some ones day. My friend Cynthia and I are involved in hair care drive that we are calling â??We Care.â?? Our new goal is 200 gift bags for women who are supported by two domestic violence agencies. It is very empowering for me to be a part of this. For our â??We Careâ?? drive, we are asking for:

• â??pamperâ?? stuff - fragrant lotions to make you feel good
• luxurious hair care product - especially for women of color
• lovely makeup - no foundation please

Believe me, I know, the hair is the last thing one thinks about when one is in a domestic violence situation which is why we concentrate on hair care products. I tiny few of you reading this I will have a chance to see. If you are local - in the Chicago-land area - we will pick up through the first week in December.
